GUSD welcomes two new administrators to our leadership team

Gilroy, CA – The Gilroy Unified School District is pleased to welcome two new assistant principals to our leadership team: Jeremiah Brantner and Jonathan Penuliar.  The official announcement was made at the July 14, 2020 GUSD special Board Meeting where both appointments were accepted by the Board.  The onboarding process will continue throughout the summer.  Dr. Deborah A. Flores, Ph.D., Superintendent of the Gilroy Unified School District remarked, “I want to welcome both Jeremiah and Jonathan to the GUSD leadership team.  We are thrilled to have their insight and expertise as our district team, as we work through the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic.”

Gilroy High School welcomes Assistant Principal Jeremiah Brantner. 
Jeremiah Brantner is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah but has been a California resident for over 25 years. He has worked in California public schools for almost 10 years.  He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from CSU Monterey Bay.  Jeremiah began teaching in Salinas Middle Schools and spent the last seven years teaching chemistry at San Benito High School. Jeremiah is proud to be a Gilroy resident for more than ten years, he is the proud father of four including a Christopher High School graduate, sophomore, an eighth grader, and a second grader. He is excited to join the leadership team at Gilroy High School. 

 

Jonathan Penuliar

South Valley Middle School welcomes Assistant Principal Jonathan Penuliar.
Jonathan Bernard Penuliar graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in English and communication, received his M.Ed. at the University of California, San Diego, and recently attained his Ed.D. through the UC San Diego and CSU San Marcos Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership. He is currently the English language development site coordinator and yearbook adviser at Twin Peaks Middle School in the Poway Unified School District. He is also a faculty member in the TPMS English Department. Jonathan's work revolves around the basic premise that all students deserve every opportunity to learn and grow through a safe and rigorous learning environment, and he is excited to join the Gilroy Unified team as an assistant principal at South Valley Middle School.
